Slip ons only. Velcro might as well be laces. Still have to bend over or sit down.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What would realistically happen if universal healthcare went into effect in the US and healthcare was no longer tied to jobs?
0·3 days agoThis. I’ve said for years, it’d be a Renaissance of entrepreneurship and craftsmanship.
I’ve known so many people over the years that would have been fine getting by selling things they’ve made, or fixing others things, if they didn’t need employer based Healthcare.
I don’t have shoes with laces.
Sure, but she implied that these two just met. I may treat a friend the same way but I wouldn’t court a friend in the same way.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Whats the most disgusting thing you've ever put in your mouth?
0·3 days agoDuck tounge. Ice cold duck tounge.
This beyond showing interest. You may be unaware but you are dating. You went on a movie date. You’re going on a fishing date on Sunday. That’s dating, we’ve just forgotten what that is as like a society.

24·8 days agoAtlanta has them in the middle of parks too far from and facing away from parking lots to read any license plates… they’re there to use facial recognition on children playing on park equipment.
Rebate = rabbet
I’m pretty sure.

Unpopular Opinion@lemmy.world•I don't really mind mosquitoes biting meEnglish
0·21 days agoI’ve been told if mosquito bites don’t itch it could mean you have a poor immune system. I for one have a thick blanket of fur and am not so bothered by them.

Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Should we ditch the idea of three meals a day?
0·21 days agoMy worker eats 4 to 5 small meals over the course of a 12hr work day. One of these is second breakfast which he sings as he brings it to the microwave.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What's the best food you're had in another country that's not from that country?
0·23 days agoRamen in Italy. Not the best Ramen I ever had but best outside of Japan. I also had very authentic Chinese in Italy. Had some of the best burgers I’ve ever had in Japan. China had a lot of odd takes on American foods and chains. There’s kind of a long list here.

Do you have any examples of such models? Models like this are the only interest I have in LLMs.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there an "Avoid Amazon" community for people who want to support smaller online retailers?
0·1 month agoWith 2 people working 80hrs a week and a kid in cloth diapers I assure you I cannot wait a few weeks.
Could probably get the diapers done throughout the week by hand and I do all my own laundry in a hotel room by hand when I have to travel for work, but I dont have the littiney of other home owner crap to take care of or all the bedding and towels so its just my clothes.
At what time should I be doing my entire family’s laundry by hand including bedding for 3 to 4 weeks?
Sure could drop off at a laundry service but at that point its expensive enough to have just paid the repair guy with the part in his truck to come out and fix it defeating the whole point of fixing it myself.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Is there an "Avoid Amazon" community for people who want to support smaller online retailers?
0·1 month agoThe one place I’m having issue with this is appliance parts. Every time I try to buy from an appliance parts retailer on line it takes weeks to get my part. It’s either that or I call a local repair shop that has parts in stock and will sell it to me if I have the time to get out to their location an hour and half away between 9 and 3. Man I’m just trying to fix the washer when I get home from work. I dont have time for all that or the time to wait for the part, laundrys gotta get done!

I’ve got a high arch and it took a little bit to get used to not having tight laces. I had at some point found out that I had been tying my shoes too tightly for years and after the initial jarring change my feet do feel much better. The tops of my feet would get itchy because I was restricting blood flow.
I also wear boots most days and lacing boots is quite different than tying shoes and a Chelsea boot is way more comfortable.
Added benefit, when shoes need to come off, they’re just off.
