As someone who (outside of basic game modding) hates to tinker out of fear of breaking something, that second part is aimed at people like me.

I’ve had friends who haven’t bought a game in a very long time and still plays games like it’s 2013 (wish I could do that). On the other hand I have a cousin who me and another cousin are tying to get into pc gaming, and thus has a very new account with practically no games, and might continue playing on his Xbox till he can a steam machine or decent pc

I for one would also love to stop scalpers and make a flag of their skin but that’s really hard when protections have to also not alienate any actual customers

Me and one of my online buddies (but not the third online buddy) were able to grab one so that’s 2 you can move from the scalpers to user side. Searching steam controller with a few different words left me only with the original controller and some others, so I’m hoping a majority of the sold ones are to legit users

Yeah I check 2 min early just so I could refresh the page right at 10, and I was surprised when I saw the orders were open, after spamming the next button on payment, I was able to get mine in at 10

I was able to grab mine, just kept spamming order on the payment screen, and got it eventually. Also looks like it’s still in stock so I guess I worried for not much in terms of it going out of stock

In my other comment replying to the parent comment, I did that (by accident) and I left this part out but what I wanted to do was go onto ask lemmy or some similar community, link the original post and start a discussion there. Women get to keep they’re space, and men joining the conversation in good faith get to chime in

I also saw one idea floated a while ago is a bot that automatically crossposts from those women only comms into a general community, basically same concept as idea 1 just automated

But like I said in my other comment, while I would love to hop into those conversations, it kinda destroys the idea of women only community as they’d probably eventually be pushed/drowned out of their own space

Yeah one time I accidentally commented in one of the women’s space community, as I thought it was only a meme aimed at women. The mod both recognized it was an honest mistake, and noted it actually added the conversation so they kept it up but said something along the lines of “thank you this is great but this is also a women’s only space, please don’t do it again” and they were very respectful about it. So I just lurked in that comments section as to respect the rules

Point is I too would probably be upset if my community was overran with “as a man”. What’s that one comic strip with the guy always going oh no, basically in the one I’m thinking of, they carve out their own niche, but then the majority comes in and kicks them out

Like is my heart in the right place, yes I think so, but would it lead to a situation like that, also yes

But I don’t see the point of people throwing a fit. Like go a general community like one of the Asks and throw it there. Like I fundamentally don’t understand people going “waaah I can’t be a part of something I didn’t want to be in”

I’m assuming your on the younger side if you don’t drive and as a local youngin myself (early 20s) I don’t understand myself outside of being a vigorous rule follower

-But a lot of cars get better mileage when in the 60-70 mph range (I think that’s roughly 100kph if memory serves, which it usually doesn’t) -It’s also just safer, traveling slower means less distance to stop, meaning you have a bigger window of reaction time before you put that crumple zone to the test -(I feel like a lot of EV owners forget this cus there’s no gas and clearly that’s the only thing in a car) but your car is a bunch of moving parts most importantly the wheels, so your brakes and tires will thank you -As another lemming mentioned seeing that one BMW pass you, then you get to catch up on them at a red light, 1 they used more gas, as motion is energy, and more motion needs more fuel. On top of that since they were driving like they’re doing it “for family” in a summer block buster starring Dwight “the stone” John. Meanwhile you get to glide nicely towards the red light giving your brake disks a light hug

But keep in mind a difference in traffic speed is dangerous both ways. Yes the guy doing 120 in a 70 is a menace but so is the guy doing a 40 as they’re basically and obstacle. I usually do 70 (freeway speed limit for a stretch where I live) or 60 (speed limit for a majority of the freeway past a town) but sometimes everyone’s doing 90+ so I have to raise my speed. It’s why a lot of driving instructors will say that speed limits important but so is flow of traffic (tho flow of traffic outweighing the speed limit when determining your own speed has been very rare for me)

TLDR, less money for gas and maintenance, and more importantly (wish I had more examples of the top of my head) safety
