Americans were bombarded with Trump ads lambasting Kamala Harris for having endorsed free gender-transition surgery for prisoners and immigration detainees.
What makes this all so maddening is that those obstacles were placed there by well-meaning progressives.
The Trump ad describes an answer Harris gave on an ACLU candidate questionnaire five years ago. (“As President will you use your executive authority to ensure that transgender and nonbinary people who rely on the state for medical care — including those in prison and immigration detention — will have access to comprehensive treatment associated with gender transition, including all necessary surgical care?” Answer: yes.).
I’m sure neither the ACLU nor the Harris staffers who cooperated in this response set out to seed Republican attack ads. Yet a large portion of the work of the progressive nonprofit complex is functionally dedicated to this very outcome.
Americans are broadly supportive of equal rights for trans people. That support does not quite extend to allowing trans athletes to compete in women’s sports, or to medicalizing transitions for children. Trans Activists pushing Democrats to take incredibly unpopular positions isn’t a good thing.
Here is the thing about Republican politicians. They are held to a lower standard. Their voters don’t care they vote against labor rights or slash Medicaid/Medicare. They genuinely don’t care. Democrats keep getting attacked on trans athletes in women’s sports.
You need to leave your local college campus.
In a place like Iowa or Kansas, it actually decreases your chance of winning.
I don’t think James Talarico wants to see trans people rounded up and killed.
“Progressives keep winning”
A progressive winning in New York City is easy.
Can they win elsewhere? That’s a real question. The race in Michigan is very tight.
You are letting them off the hook easy. They are responsible for a lot more.
Susan Collins said she would only do two terms. She is running for her sixth term. She voted for the Afghanistan War. She voted for the Iraq war. On Oct. 6, 2018, she cast a deciding vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court. He overturned Roe v. Wade
Mike Rogers cosponsored a bill to ban milefrepstone, the most common abortion drug in the US. He has voted repeatedly against allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices.
Rogers introduced the National Pain Care Policy Act, a bill to expand access to prescription opioids but didn’t include penalties for over-prescribing. His bill was praised by Purdue Pharma
Hillary Clinton jointed the board of Walmart when her husband became governor of Arkansas.
Hunter Biden sat on the board of a Ukrainian gas company.
While technically not illegal, I thought these moves were still disgraceful.
But what President Trump is doing is absolutely unprecedented.

Ross Ulbricht : Convicted of distribution of drugs, engaging in a continuing criminal enterprise, fraud with identification documents, conspiracy to commit money laundering
Changpeng Zhao : CEO of Binance, a crypto company. Convicted of money laundering.
Rod Blagojevich : Former Illinois Governor. Convicted of wire fraud, extortion, corrupt solicitation of funds
Trevor Milton : Former CEO of Nikoa. Convicted of wire fraud and securities fraud
Michele Fiore : Nevada politician. Collected over $70,000 in charitable donations to erect a memorial to fallen Vegas police officers. She spent all the money on personal expenses. Convicted of conspiracy to commit wire fraud; wire fraud
Steve Buyer: Indiana congressman. Convicted of insider trading.
Scott Howard Jenkins : Sheriff of Culpeper County. He received $75,000 in bribes. Conspiracy to commit bribery concerning programs receiving Federal funds, honest services mail fraud, and honest service wire fraud; honest services mail fraud; honest services wire fraud (three counts); bribery concerning programs receiving federal funds (seven counts)
Juan Orlando Hernández: Former President of Honduras. Convicted of facilitating the transport of cocaine to the United States.
