  • Science, language and logic are human made concepts too. It is not like science is uncovering universal truth that was already there, it is also mediated through human symbols just like economics. Even maths cannot be equated to universal facts. It only makes sense within our human symbology.

I do agree economics is the least worthwhile of all sciences. But the meme is about nuclear reactors too and they are sciency?

  • I agree with your rant, this kind of title is annoying.

I do however also think that doing slow mindful walks will help against stress, so the implication that slow walking brings happiness is not a bad implication. Stressed out fast walking people really should try it. There’s no reason to be in a hurry all of the time.

Of course it’s not exclusive to the US? The severity is exactly what is noteworthy about the situation in the US though.

What do you mean with being naive about drugs? I don’t think in Europe we’re naive about it, we know there’s addiction here as well but we generally try to take care of addicts as fellow human beings instead of excluding them from society and making the situation worse.

“Having heard from someone” this or that is a whole different category than the extent of the drug problems in the US.

“I’ve heard from someone there’s this American Football team in Amsterdam, so basically football is the most popular sport in Europe now.”

  • Of course we do, but at least in Western Europe we take better care of them. There’s generally social welfare programs, shelters, etc. In Amsterdam there’s shelters where they can safely use crack so they have access to clean supplies.

The question “like we DON’T have” is kind of silly. It’s about how predominant the problem is, not whether we also have a couple.

The US has several times the crack user per capita compared to Europe, depending on where in Europe.
