Hey! Quick question for you — if you could go back to your 20s, what’s one mistake you’d avoid, or a money lesson you wish you’d learned earlier?

I mean like getting into higher paid and more respected positions in my industry. And then the things I wanted were more flexibility, more time off, working with people I liked, and seeing my work make the world a better place.
The model I had in my head was that more pay or prestige would either require or result in less of the other things I wanted. You had to trade flexibility or good coworkers and bosses in order to make more money.
Now, I think you can make that tradeoff if you want to. But I also think that, in general, the best way to get the higher paycheck is by assuming it also comes with making the world a better place and working with good people.
Could be financial, career, or just someone who feels like they’ve figured life out in a way you respect. Curious what kind of success comes to mind for you, and what lesson stuck with you from that journey???

I’d pay attention to where I’m posting and read sidebars more often.
I wouldn’t have bought a single comic book or collectible.
When you get a job that has a retirement plan of some kind, money from your paycheck will get put into an account of some kind. But once it’s in that account, you have to actually invest it in something. I spent years with my retirement savings just sitting there, not doing anything because I didn’t pay much attention to it and nobody told me otherwise.
