Concession cardholders and pensioners will soon be able to use credit and debit cards on public transport across New South Wales.

A digital upgrade to the Opal transport network will allow concession cardholders and pensioners to use contactless payment.

The government says the changes will also make it easier for these groups to get free trips once they hit the fare cap.
