Nice to meet you! My name is Shōzao, and I was born and raised in Japan. I’m a member of Generation Z who first started using Windows 95 at the age of three and has grown accustomed to computers with the release of every new operating system.
During my sixth-form years, whilst other groups used analogue methods for their internship presentations, my group alone devised a presentation using PowerPoint and a live demonstration of our training results. As a result, I was recognised as the school’s top IT expert, receiving a commendation recommended by the headteacher and being called in by him on numerous occasions to be praised.
As of 2026, whilst I was making a living through a dual role of remote work and deliveries, I realised I was at risk of being left behind in the AI era, so I have now switched to practising ‘AI work’ that makes full use of AI. I hope to connect with the people on this forum and share information from Japan, conveying the real, humour-filled side of life here.
I extend my respect to everyone here. よろしくおねがいします!
Hello اهلًا وسهلًا !

ようこそ! It’s nice to have people from all around the world around here. I’m from Switzerland, and have had strong links with Japan as my father was an importer for Japanese paragleiders (the best ones around the nineties), and I’ve been learning it a tiny bit the last two years.むずかしです!
As for AI, I think you’ll find out that the opinions on lemmy can differ quite a lot. The genie’s out of the bottle, but it’s not yet settled what it will do, and if the outcome is going to be positive for humanity. As an engineer working partly in IT, I must agree that it’s an important tool to get to know though.
May I ask from what region you are from? Japan’s a big country!
Hi from Germany, I’m not much into AI and with my pathetic 3GB VRAM I’m not sure, if it would be feasable to get useful local AI running. But recently I read about a very interesting project: llama conductor From what I understood it provides a way to handle ground truth, weave it into your llm interactions and get a confidence level for every answer (to avoid the confident halucinations). I’m not sure, if it can hold, what it promises. But I certainly would like to try.
