Whole bowl of food but they are going to starve because there is a tiny square bajillameter of the bottom showing right in the center where the most food has been eaten.

I had a cat that would want to go out on a rainy day, so I’d open the back door and show him the rain. That wouldn’t bother him at all, he’d just walk to the front door.

It wasn’t until I opened the front door, and showed him it was raining our there, too, that he look dejected.

I wonder if it was weird for pets in houses when the TV got upgraded from CRT to LCD - now the flickery box that the humans stare at is thin and showing these flat moving pictures.

Our cats watched TV often, and one day they were watching chipmunks on TV, and one of the critters ran off screen. One of our cats thought it had run into the bedroom door next to the TV, and spent the next two days hunting that chipmunk it thought was in the bedroom.

One winter day my cat led me to the door and demanded I open it. So I did, and it was cold and there was a couple of inches of snow on the ground. She put one paw in the snow and looked back like I was the ultimate betrayer. Her meow was clearly ‘wrong outside, human’ and she walked away (back into the house).

I’m terrible at understanding what my cat is communicating. She’ll meow at me, wait for me, lead me somewhere and flop on her side so it’s clearly a request but for what?

he’s fairly certain I’m just not applying myself properly here.

Just look out at the night, then look at the cat. Yawn. Lick the back of your hand, smooth your hair down with it, and go take a nap. The cat will understand.

My cat blames me for autumn and winter. She’ll look at me like “Why did you turn summer off? I was enjoying that. Fix it!” She’ll do that every year for some time when the weather turns cold and autumn rains starts.

My dog does this. She knows that I can control the temperature inside. She knows I can control the wind (ceiling fan). She knows I can summon rain in some instances (showers).

Sometimes when it rains she acts like she wants a walk and we get suited up and I open the door and she stands there at the threshold and looks at me like I am dumb because I won’t shut the rain down so we can walk.

It’s bad enough that I’m a disappointment to my parents, but now you’re positing that I’m a disappointment to my cat too? How much more do you think I can take?!

I’ve got news for you. Your parents’ opinion does not matter one bit. It’s all about what the cat thinks of you. Hope that clarifies things and realigns your priorities 😊

I loved visiting a friend’s house and their cat was leaving their bedroom, meowed at me to follow him so I did, and he guided me downstairs to the food bowl. When he detected I was confused he then led me further to the cupboard where his kibble was kept, and waited for me to feed him. I did not feel like I had the power in that situation 😅 more like a barely competent servant

A friend of mine went out of town and I helped take care of their cats. I realized when I went to feed them, that I didn’t know where their food was. I was about to call my friend, but then realized I could just ask the cats. And sure enough, one of them led me directly to the closet with the food. Easy peasey

One of the outsides gets so mad at me when it rains. It’s not just that it happened and I can make it stop (?), it’s like it’s my fault specifically that it started.

The most ridiculous part is that she refuses to come inside despite our efforts. We’re trying!
