I have a saved bookmark to old Reddit for the one subreddit I follow. When I saw that, I immediately yelled out loud, “fuck you, Spez!” Startled my cat.
I notice that I’m getting too familiar with corpo bullshit reasons. “To keep Reddit save” just got straight up discarded by my brain while reading this because it doesn’t mean anything anyways. It might as well say accounts are required because we feel like it.
It’s the same as legislation to “keep kids safe”

Reddit was so important in my life, each of these steps is more saddening. I’ve come to realize that that company can’t and won’t make the spaces that matter to us: we were always the ones doing it.
