I really should be medicated. I was diagnosed back in the 90s but they prescribed me Cylert instead of Ritalin (I don’t think Ritalin XR was a thing yet and I didn’t want to be that one weirdo that got excused to the nurses office every day during class).

Cylert was so great that it could cause your liver to shut down, so I had to go to a clinic and get my blood tested every month.

When I turned 18 I lost my father’s insurance and stopped going to doctors. Had the best night of sleep ever the first time I skipped Cylert. Pretty much forgot about it.

Ffw to a decade later: visiting moms house, find an ancient bottle of a months supply of Cylert in her cabinet. Man. It felt so good to take it recreationally.

When it ran out shit sucked for a week/forever.

I kinda wish I didn’t know what awesome feels like, because I doubt I’ll ever be lifted to those levels without chemical aid ever again.

The ceiling of happiness hovers millimeters above my head, and I’m punished whenever I attempt to breach it.
