Another clip making the rounds on X featured a MAGA hat ablaze on a barbecue grill.

    They’re eating the hats …

What, like several decades of evidence of him being a shit show? Pfft who’d have that? The Internet, major TV networks, and most new York News publications?

And the self serving cunt will skate away yet again because so many people are scared, of changes, of people who don’t look like them, of being told that they had it wrong, that they’ll lose their little piece of the whatever they have…

Don’t believe these kinds of articles. Anyone who voted for Trump the second time already knew what they were getting.

Trump’s base is unquestionably faithful and you still need to be vigilant against them because they aren’t going anywhere until Trump dies.

That’s what I’m thinking. I think there will be a higher proportion of Maga Catholics who essentially turn at least somewhat away from their faith due to Trump’s actions compared to Maga Catholics who turn away from Trump for those actions.

I am aware of at least one real instance of this happening. Not the hat burning, but my wife is Facebook friends with an old coworker of hers who is self-identified MAGA. This is his latest post, under the Trump/Jesus picture:

Always been a fan of the guy, but the last 3-4 months I’ve lost all respect for him. Has turned into Israel’s puppet with this war, turned the entire world against us by joining a side that is quite literally murdering thousands of innocents left and right in Gaza and Lebanon, and now posting this blasphemous shit, on the day of Orthodox Easter, no less. Fuck him.

I don’t know if this is happening in numbers significant enough for it to matter, but it’s one real case.

        Eh.

I don’t really care about this whole “they’re turning against him” thing. These are stupid, stupid human beings. They’ll vote for the next child rapist felon the GOP props up. Because stupid humans make stupid decisions.

I live in a purple area. I’ve seen some homes take down their maga flags. While it doesn’t necessarily mean they turned on him, they’re at least less enthusiastic. On the other hand, I’ve also seen homes double down and add more maga flags or the tpusa flag.

Do we know if the anti-Christ is aware they are the anti-Christ? Because it seems like trump just accidentally stumbled into embodying that concept so perfectly just by being his normal piece of shit self.

No, the idea of the antichrist knowing is a supposition of them being a servant of the beast. A cultural assumption of Satan’s “human servants” having first hand communication like one does with a human boss.

      https://www.benjaminlcorey.com/could-american-evangelicals-spot-the-antichrist-heres-the-biblical-predictions/

Inasmuch as I could play with the idea of believing in revelations, I would believe that it’s less about a “chosen one” antichrist, and moreso an “antichrist candidate” that when someone can fulfill the roll and obtain power; then it’s a sign of times incoming. Also, (lego) Brick Bible Revelations is a fascinating interpretation.

I’m glad you posted that link, or I would have. That’s the best summation of the Anti-Christ I’ve seen, and I’ve posted it many times over the past few years.

I don’t believe in any of that bullshit, but if I did, this post would make an enormous impact on me. More Christians need to see it.

That’s a really weird metaphor. It doesn’t really make any sense.

There’s a well known metaphor about burning your own boats so that you’re unable to retreat. But, those aren’t lifeboats.

If you’re talking about not letting people get rescued, why not “sink the lifeboats”? Setting them on fire would be annoying, but a fire would be easy to put out if the boats are out at sea. There’s water all around. The article seems to be more about not allowing people who have abandoned the sinking ship to come on board. So, why not just “ignore the lifeboats”. You don’t have to approach them and set them on fire. You can just refuse to rescue the people in those lifeboats and leave them floating out at sea.

I know driftglass has made his enemies, especially among never-trumpers and the MSM, but I doubt it’s extended to Lemmy, LOL. Maybe it’s a blogspot thing?

Yeah, the domain is blogspot with a dot com. If you search driftglass blogspot and burn the lifeboats, he’s written about it (and probably so has his wife, bluegal) and talked about it on their podcast several times over the years in regards to the teabagger movement and the offramps given to Republicans so they can temporarily claim to be “independents”, and then go right back to voting Republican.

                This blog was from 2019.
