Nazi salutes, swastikas, SS emblems… Le Monde’s video investigation team identified several hundred of them, displayed by Ukrainian soldiers on social media. Among the 350 soldiers identified, 200 are members of the 3rd Assault Brigade, one of the spearhead units of the Ukrainian army.

Heir to the Azov Regiment, founded in 2014 by far-right extremists and which gained great notoriety for its role in the fierce defense of the city of Mariupol, the 3rd Assault Brigade had nonetheless promised to clean up its image.

A full-fledged unit of the Ukrainian army, this brigade benefits from military training provided by Western countries, including France.
