I don’t think comparing the US to France is productive. The size difference and land mass difference alone is staggering.
It is unreasonable to ask USians to grab our guns and storm the Whitehouse. It’s not feasible in any stretch of the imagination. So yes, I view those kinds of comments as trying to derail truly constructive conversations about a way forward. I do understand the frustration and ire behind those comments though, very much so.
My point is, they were educated and organized. The USA, by and large, is not. So we’re not in disagreement, but we’re not voting our way out of this. Look at history, since FDR promised a New Deal to turn the tide against actual socialism.
