It’s amusing you think laws and police have any relevance when talking about armed conflict. Do you also wonder why Ukraine didn’t just send the police to arrest the incoming Russian invaders? After all, every Russian soldier on Ukrainian soil is violating numerous Ukrainian immigration, weapons, and trespassing laws. Why bother with the military? Just send the police to arrest them!

…You know, good point. If, for example, an American brings a gun to, IDK., Paris, and shoots someone, the only reasonable respone by France is to nuke Washington.

We’re not talking about some miners with a handful of handguns. I would assume such a hostile mining operation would be guarded by heavily armed private military contractors, someone like Blackwater. Think machine guns mounted on Humvees. Maybe the militarized American police could handle it. But I imagine the Greenland cops would have some issues.

And we’re also not talking about Greenland police, we’re talking about the Kingdom of Denmark.

Denmark wouldn’t send police. They would send troops. We’re talking specifically about the idea that you can just send regular police to arrest a hostile foreign mining operation.

It very much is. The topic here is private citizens doing crime abroad. If the Jakuza started an illegal mining operation in Sweden, it would be handled by the Swedish police. If they so require, the Swedish police would request assistance from the Swedish military. Either way, it would be an internal matter of a sovereign nation, to be handled by that sovereign nation.
