I got multiple homes, I’m not going to apologize for it but we should pay more, or lose tax loop holes, like I pay no tax on rental income legally.

They say, “Trump doesn’t actually own a home.” Fake news. I own a home. I own many homes, maybe even the most homes out of anyone, ever. People come up to me on the street and go, “wow Mr. President sir, you have a HUGE home.” It’s true. Even last week. I told him, “I have more just like it. Many more. In Florida, in New York, in Little Saint James island—that one used to be Denmark. I made a great big deal for it. It’s a great house. Everyone is always asking me, can I visit, I’ll bring pizza, let’s have dinner. Very great.”

This was always my opinion. Any home thats not your primary residense is taxed at 300% going rate. Makes owning multiple homes for renting too expensive.

I’m a bit torn on ideas like this. I’ve rented a beach house before and it’s a great experience for the family. Some people might love to live in a beach house but I think it’s a difficult prospect if you consider property taxes, upkeep, insurance, semi-remote living. So if it’s extremely expensive to own a beach house (as a 2nd home) that means only rich ppl will own them or they could be more of a burden than a blessing to whoever has one as a primary residence.

I would either want some exception exceptions for location (i.e. more tourist than residential areas) or for occupancy (i.e. tax rates are much higher if it’s unoccupied more than 15% of the year).

Feel free to change my mind.

Ill argue that the whole purpose of this tax structure is get houses into the available pool of property for regular folks to buy. Think of the needs of the many vs a 2 week vacation for you which you could still take in a hotel or a company that does vacation rentals somehow.

It kind of felt that way for me, at first, but then I thought about the types of houses that fit the bill: secondary residences in NYC. I can’t imagine that those houses are going to be affordable to the “regular folks” that need them, even if they go on the market.

I think it’s more a “you clearly have enough money to burn, so more taxes aren’t going to impact your lifestyle” thing than opening up these properties to buy. (Which works for me.)

It’s only expensive because of demand. Beach houses used to be cheap.

That being said, a couple living together could own one home each.

Or someone living in an apartment could own a beach house.

So it’s like Monopoly, the game, where you pay a tax for each house and a larger tax for each hotel… Sometimes it’ll break the monopoly, again in the game. I stress the game because we all know it wouldn’t fix anything in real life. Too rigged!

I need to thank you, I hadn’t seen that one and it’s great… except it’s so very small. I decided to make a bigger version and when I pulled that video I saw another perfect one to go along with it. Both of these actually have a smaller file size than the one you used. :)

Took a little bit for it to load on my phone, but thanks to your comment, I already knew what it would be.

I like to think he is not that calculating, just having fun.

Did you see him jump into the pool in a suit and tie? Everybody laughed.

Probably a bit of both in general, with this specific one being much more the latter than the former.

When the calculation is “how do I best serve my constituency and keep true to my promises and ideology without being murdered”, it’s alright to be calculating. Especially when you keep succeeding 😁

Maybe Trump should resign, go back to NYC, and go to city council meetings and voice his opinions.
