My local city council gave Doordash a 5 year exclusivity contract in good delivery in our market, which led slowly to all of the local pizza places and Asian food places getting rid of their delivery drivers, so even if I want a local pizza delivered from a local pizza place, I still have to use Doordash.

And that in-person pickup, by the user or their friend or someone else they paid, is for some reason or another completely out of the question.

I literally don’t ever order delivery so these sort of can’t-do-nothing takes around Doordash are completely foreign to me, but that is just me.

Well, you can see from my comments that it’s not just you… But there are few of us left.

The same services usually do both, so why are we judging the people getting a pizza but not the one getting some groceries?

Is that a serious question? I don’t know whether to laugh or cry…

Yes that is exactly what I’m saying. And you’re not even twisting my words or anything. Good job, goodbye.

I’d bet that even if they don’t accept costumers coming to them, there would be a grocery store within the same distance.

I haven’t ordered food delivery for over two years now.

What if I have some other job like plumber or fireman?

They can (like everyone) afford way more groceries than take-out.

There is, don’t order food to be delivered to your house. Going from every pizza shop, and local fast food joint, having people who would drive the food to anywhere within a few miles, with just the idea you would likely tip them if you got your food on time, to having to pay anywhere from 1/4-2x the cost of your order to have it delivered, by a third party, that is a huge faceless corporation, with poor service, is really disheartening.
