I know I’m putting forward a series but Blood of Zeus has one of the best soundtrack work I’ve heard. It feels epic, thematic and is actually tailored to each scene and the characters in it.
It’s like Peter and the Wolf on steroids turned into a proper composed orchestra set in Greek mythology on every episode. Writing and voice acting is good enough but the show becomes one of my favorites because of the music.
I’m surprised no one has mentioned Suicide Squad yet.

My parents bought this on CD in the 90s, and I loved listening to it. Watched the movie recently, and was very disappointed.
Game of thrones if we are counting the last few seasons… light of the seven (https://youtu.be/pS-gbqbVd8c?is=WSqGQGKdBa3UzY5Z) is definitely one my my favorite soundtracks. Especially with the context of the episode it was played in

Love me some scores, but these were both rock solid soundtracks.
Both of these had fantastic original(?) songs.
And Batman Forever marks the beginning of the end of U2.
Put in my vote for _Flash Gordon _. Now, look, I love the movie, but the Queen album that goes with it is incredible.

Most star wars tbh. It seems like no franchise catches more criticism than star wars, about plot, dialogue, acting, etc. But I’ve never heard a complaint about the soundtrack (for the main saga anyway). John Williams just doesn’t miss.
Yes, Williams is the guy that brought leitmotifs to movies (or at least the one everyone’s heard of).
There was a YouTube criticism of Marvel Super Hero movies that was basically going around asking people to hum themes from favorite movies, almost always John Williams: Star Wars, Jurassaic Park, Indiana Jones… then he´d ask people to sing people from a Marvel movie, ANY Marvel movie, and people who just mumble incoherently that they couldn’t think of anything. All those characters, all those movies, and not a single damn theme identifiable with any of character or movie, just a bunch of music generically recycled for Action or Sad or Bemused. Biggest missed opportunity in music history.
There’s also some good commentary about how themes that had definite meanings in the original trilogy got recycled and reused until they meant nothing specific. I think Luke’s theme in the swamp became Generic Music for Using the Force.
