Even if the USA were to leave the region, Iran’s claims on the Strait of Hormuz would likely trigger a continuation war as nations with ocean access to the strait wouldn’t accept the toll which Iran is trying to charge.
They will pay to get their oil out because it’s more profitable than leaving it in the ground. None of the nations near the straight have a chance against Iran since even the US can’t win. So no one will go to war over paying a toll.
