If someone brags about reading for status but only reads fiction, their knowledge is useless in practice. Fiction can be great, but treat it like junk food, enjoyable but not real world wisdom
Unironically the Dark Lord Sauron is one of my favorite fictional villains, to the point I will ironically pretend to support him and claim he’s the real good guy.
Obviously I don’t actually believe that because I’m not utterly insane. It’s just good fun.
There is like a cool russian novel where is actually the good guy and gondor the bad faction preventing mordor form industrializating.
