minus-squareGibsonhasafluffybutt@aussie.zonelinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up0·17 days agoI picked up a book called The Pearl by Steinbeck. I’ve read it before but I revisit it every few years. It’s short, but probably the most powerful allegory on capitalism I’ve ever read.
minus-squareLowExperience2368@aussie.zonelinkfedilinkarrow-up0·17 days agoWow. Will add this to reading list.
minus-squareSeagoon_@aussie.zonelinkfedilinkarrow-up0·17 days agoomg, another Steinbeck reader 😊 he is pretty much one of my favourite writers, his style has been a great influence on me he writes as simply as possible using everyday prose to evoke powerful imagery it’s so hard to do, you have to be precise , every word counts, he rarely uses idioms it does have a down side, stupid people think that if something is easy to read then it obviously cant have deep meaning or be valuable or powerful,
