Mate, if the only reason you won’t cause suffering or even murder others is because religion told you so, you have deep, deep personal character issues, being either a Sociopath or Psychopath - normal people feel guilty when they see the hurt they caused to others and thus refrain from doing it further because it feels bad, no need to be actually told not to do it.
I agree. I’m not one of those people that needs to be threatened with hell to keep myself from hurting people. My point was more about how religions have a lot of impact on what people think, especially around issues like queer rights and reproductive rights. Fewer people would care if their religious institution didn’t. Those religious people aren’t suddenly going to stop being impacted by their religion while they’re voting.
