Authoritarian countries also usually ignore human rights. China (and Russia) constantly get called out on the human rights abuses by Europe, which irates the ruling class of China. This isn’t to say Europe is the shining beacon on the hill, they are just seen as the lesser evil.
The fact Europe still hasn’t broken all ties with Israel over their human rights abuses tells me their supposed democratic values are more window dressing than anything.

Europe has plenty of investments in Israel and vice versa, especially military and real estate. Those investments won’t pay off if they put sanctions on Israel or break ties with them.
I meant Europe sabotaging itself for the USA interests since 2022. Those ties with Israel are literally zero price to pay compared to avoiding of enegry crisis, if only they weren’t captured by USA interests so much, but again, Europe is in energy crisis literally only because they are vassals of USA to begin with.

Well there is the fact that Europe isn’t one homogeneous political entity. Spain, Ireland and Norway openly went against Israel.
But if Germany supplies Israel and cracks down kn pro Palestine speech, can you say they’re as democratic as those other countries?

Most of European countries don’t like Hungary because of Viktor Orban. Same with Poland when the PiS party was in power.

And when you look, you’ll see those former colonies are getting closer with Russia and China.
