    OK, Wikipedia says she was a 50 yo widow with two children. And mentions that he moved his family (including kids?) to a different area at age 25. If she had her children in her 20s, then they were likely older than him.

      Was he actually? Was it someone like a teacher of his? Or a boss?

      Because an age gap like that doesn’t automatically mean grooming. I dated someone who was 42 at 19, who I met at 19, and I’m the one that made the first move, and courted them, because I was interested in them. They didn’t have kids though, but that’s still much older than me.

    I think we should primarily assume he was familiar with at least certain applications of statistics, and note that a 50 year old woman in 1730 is more appropriately considered a GMILF
