And by aid, we mean solar panels, wind turbines, and batteries.

Not oil. They don’t need oil.

They do in the short term, but I agree that transitioning off oil as fast as possible should be the goal.

Yeah. Lemmy sure does love shoehorning their pet issues in, regardless of how impractical sending wind turbines to Cuba is right now.

What makes you think any or even all of those modalities would meet their energy needs before people start dying?

Energy independence is key to ensuring this never happens again. Maximizing utilization of renewables is key to that on a long ye horizon. But in the short term, they need oil.

Probably that many Americans want this too. Even if it angers the 30% of racists morons we’re saddled with.

Countries obviously need to be sending food and medical supplies.

But rather than sending oil, countries sending aid should be sending equipment for setting up solar farms, so that the USA can never do this to them again.

Obviously they still need some oil in the short term, but China has so much solar production, and are allied with cuba, I’m surprised they’re not getting massive shipments of solar panels and battery banks.

Of course it’s higher than 51%, but they “adjust” their results to weaken our collective resolve

It’s important to recognize media bias.

But it’s equally important to not let our own bias discredit it.

China already did. They have several wind turbine farms and solar power plants.

They don’t need oil. They just need to keep building. The whole world should be in this same position

The UN has flagged Cuba for arbitrary detention and rights abuses, and every major human rights organization documents suppression of dissent and free speech. Calling that anything other than authoritarian is ignoring the evidence.
