Also Lincoln:
I will say then that I am not, nor ever have been in favor of bringing about in any way the social and political equality of the white and black races—that I am not nor ever have been in favor of making voters or jurors of negroes, nor of qualifying them to hold office, nor to intermarry with white people; and I will say in addition to this that there is a physical difference between the white and black races which I believe will for ever forbid the two races living together on terms of social and political equality. And inasmuch as they cannot so live, while they do remain together there must be the position of superior and inferior, and I as much as any other man am in favor of having the superior position assigned to the white race.
I don’t think Republicans have changed all that much.
246 years of slavery, 95 years of enforced segregation, and 50 years of institutional racism.
We never even came close to defeating racism and the majority are in denial about this to this day. Now we have Jim Crow 2.0 and the institutionalized racism beats on stronger than ever meanwhile the supreme Court says we are beyond it. Who the fuck are they trying to fool.
The War on Drugs, which has always been a war on minorities, carries on unabated. Now we have Ice racially profiling everyone of color and once again the Supreme Court gives their approval. It is almost like SCOTUS is an illegitimate organization.
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal.
All white land-owning men that is.
It’s the same picture meme
Four score and seven years ago wealthy slave owning fucks brought forth on this continent, a new nation on stolen land, conceived in greed and apathy, and dedicated to the extermination of all those considered lesser.
It always pisses me off when Republicans say their party ended slavery. When it was voting time for Trump 2.0, they had put up signs to that effect. They couldn’t be more different. Same in name alone. Different everywhere else.
