Efforts to use technology to police copyright evolved into companies using copyright law to lock people out of repairing their own devices.

    Great article. I highly recommend Corey Doctorow’s book called ‘Enshittification’ for more on this phenomenon

      This isn’t really enshittification, though. People used to always have the right to self repair. That right got curtailed once it became a threat to profit margins.

      This is a law issue.

    It’s also total bullshit how they can just film in a public street and include anyone that happens to pass by in their movie without paying them, but as soon as a famous person’s face gets shown they demand royalties.
