My 10 year account got banned for voicing criticism of the fascist State of Israel
What got you banned?
Not banned, just bored.
For voicing criticism of Hamas and crime against humanity targeting civilian. Funy
I just stopped using it. No ban necessary.
I did get one or two temporary bans some years ago. First time was for criticizing their censorship. The second time was for sending the middle finger emoji to Spez.
I’m not going to go out of my way to delete my dead user or posts or anything. It’s not my problem. Quite frankly, I just don’t give a shit about their site.
Got perma banned for “abuse” of the reporting tool for reporting someone supporting zios. Kept just using reddit with a banned account for years, and somehow after like 3 years it got reinstated somehow? Fast forward a few month I get perma banned again for suggesting to nuke the epstein island instead of orbital striking it like the previous commenter suggested (he did not get banned -o-)
I deleted my account, remade another
Defended lgbt people and fought against racists
Got banned for being a bigot I think a few weeks later.
I have no idea why anyone would want to stay there, but I hope they do or the Lemmy communities will get overrun by nutjobs
There was no way to argue against the ban either. Seems that the current strategy is just reporting people who hate trump. As long as you have the right keywords, it might even be automated at this point
Whereas, on Facebook, nobody gets banned, and racist comments get promoted because they have the most engagement… and the racists whinge that Facebook is getting blocked for kids
The comment that got me banned from Reddit was that I was “surprised Kanye hadn’t murder suicided Kim or Taylor yet” for inciting violence. I had also gotten bans from upvoting Luigi content. Before that it had been years, it was an 11 year old account, I said that we should use the traditional punishment of hanging for treason on Mitch McConnell, because he’s a traitor.
I’m left, that was good enough. I was a “power user” with hundreds of thousands of karma in comment and post - reddit doesn’t care about content, it’s actively grooming its user base
I got banned for making a comment about some hockey player needed attempted murder charges for using his skate blade to slash a rival players throat during a game. Blood spirting out all over the ice. I was banned for inciting violence. When I asked how what I said was inciting violence they perma banned me. I then came here.
Same. Got banned for saying “israel” is carrying out Nazi policies. Reddit is a Zionist platform and the “israelis” put a lot of effort into planting mods there to stifle free speech.
After the API thing I heard mod tools broke too. I started frivolously reporting posts and replies. Some days it was far beyond excessive. I wanted to give someone moderating some subreddit a headache. They could have walked away but that smell permeating shit mountain was too alluring for them to leave.
🙋♀️
I got ‘soft banned’.
I had stopped commenting on Reddit back in 2022 after receiving warnings on similar topics. Continued to lurk and scroll. Now reddit has an uncloseable popup on web telling me to use the app. So I don’t use reddit.
Banned for using a VPN for “ban evasion” but never had been banned before.
Appealed. No response.
I took that as a fuck off message.
reddit seems to have banned vpn use since early 2024.
I got perma-banned earlier this week. I make discord bots, was helping others out explaining some of the setups i use, a mod disliked that. Wasn’t against the rules. He banned me in a lot of places, I was trying to damage control due to how many I was being banned from, opening tickets and trying to at least figure out a fix or something and he painted it like I was stalking/ban evading, trying to find him IRL, from my own “business” account that was fully linked up to the website I had that was linked to my youtube/bots/bot building/game etc. Reddit took his side.
Means I also lost the subreddit and the users who were following updates.
End of the day, no matter how big the stuff gets, reddit is blacklisted and will remain that way indefinitely. They will never get business from me.
That sucks. I really miss the niche subs and due to content I still lurk, lemmy hasn’t gotten there yet.
I don’t know bots or backend stuff but been thinking a Reddit reply bot that can be hosted on Lem or elsewhere that allows anyone to use the bot to engage would be cool.
It would still clearly pander to that shit company but damn I really do miss certain communities
It was helpful for that for sure. 3d printing, TrueNAS, Bots, Python etc. But holy hell if you catch a mod on a bad day they can ruin years of progress. Its a shame it ended like that but its not the end of the world. Shit happens.
Plus… I dont miss the drama, everyone assuming your hostile when asking or talking about something.
You’re right, the angst and drama was too much a reminder of FB when I dropped it in 2020.
On the plus side it’s brought more folks to Lemmy and the niche/local communities can be built here.
My 7 year acct is banned over an f-ing movie quote in a sub asking your favorite movie quote? I even cited and referenced to 2 MODs and even their AI said it’s a quote. But since the quote “promoted violence” it was removed and now when I post on the acct it’s shadow banned.
The quote came from Samuel L Jackson from the beginning of Jackie Brown when he started with “AK-47.”
I wonder if you’d have gotten the same ban for sharing a “violent” quote by the same actor from a different Tarantino film.
Or would that one have been ok if you credited it to Pete Hegseth
One of my bans came from directly quoting the heritage foundation (successfully appealed). So no, you wouldn’t be ok.
I enjoyed some few-days bans for saying that USA is not a greay country to live in. And a bit longer bans for saying Israel is doing warcrimes. But never permanent. Curiosity brought me to lemmy but this platform feels tad empty
