Today’s game is some Halo PvP. We got a small lobby together today, and I specifically wanted to try and clear up some last few screenshots in my journey to 100% the MCC. 8 brought myself up from 79% to 80% with today and made some damn good progress.

Me and my friend also were looking at playing Halo infinite. And that got me thinking. I vastly prefer Reach’s armor. And I wondered why. Then I got thinking about why. After looking at Reach’s, I think it boils down to how much customization I have.

I love the armor core system, I think it’s a cool idea and makes each armor a little more personal feeling. Like it’s actually your armor. But I’d prefer if it was more of an outfit save slot than a generic base to work off of. It just feels far more limiting with its implementation (though factually speaking I’m not sure if that’s true). Then there’s the colors. Infinite has some pretty colors but I hate being limited to the Color options. I’d love to just be able to have my go to Orange and Grey armor.

We also did a game of Halo 2. And this one was kind of interesting as I feel like the skill gap was a lot smaller than with something like Reach. We won 3-2. I’d love to see like a mechanical breakdown to figure out how and why it happened (or if it’s that my friends are just better at 2). And, comparing this to Reach? We’d wipe our friends on the other team in Reach. Just completely steam roll them.

In fact, that’s what we did during a game of Assault. We came fresh off some games of Halo 2 thinking “it seemed pretty balanced. I bet it will be during Reach too”. Nope. We wiped them 3-0. I felt a little bad so I put us on a game of odd ball to end off the night. I knew that was something that we all stood a pretty good chance in.

80% in the MCC, wow, that’s insane. I love Halo, but I think I’d go nuts if I tried to 100% it. Halo 2 LASO would give me nightmares lol.

It’s hard to say exactly because the games have a very different weapon set, but if memory serves, Halo 2 has a higher TTK in general than Reach does. Maybe you’re getting the jump on your friends more often, and they just have a longer chance to react in 2 than in Reach.

LASO is definitely one of our major road blocks, I’m doing it Co-Op (because iron skull) but we’ve been maybe working on it for half a year? Haven’t made it past level 4 of CE. Another major block is the multiplayer achievements. I keep putting of Skunked in hope they make it where it can be done in a custom game, but I know I’m probably only shooting myself in the foot there

The reaction time is definitely what I was considering too. Especially because with Reach some players have sprint. So you can close that gap a whole lot faster
