besides the HCOl in my area, the lack of career for many stems is very apparent too. even if some of these stem has shortages/ demand, the cost for post-undergrad training is pretty high. if you are going to grad school like for Pharmacy even, its around 250k+ for 3-4 years, cost prohibitive so many people dont do things like pharmacy, eventhough pharm school has a much lower than 3.0 gpa requirement, you can tell why there is a shortage(the cost for grad school is very high). unless you are in tech and still employed or graduate professional. which are by the way out of state people that flooded in the area in the last decade.
and its also gatekeep in other ways to, such as requiring x amount of experience. or the way employers use AI to screen applicants, im also hearing certain employers arnt even recieving “Resumes” from recruiters, it never touched thier desk. so its likely the recruiters agencies are doing things to keep the money flowing(by not fowarding the resumes, and telling the applicant that it doesnt meet thier needs.) because the 3rd parties are likely filtering out the applicants first.
