Peroxide wouldn’t damage the paint, only used to kill algae. It’s even safe for fish in smaller doses. In my large aquarium, I have black beard algae blooms because of so much daylight, that I’ll dump a bottle of peroxide in there too hero kill it then scrape it off and a couple days later clean out my filters.
