Hi there, I built selfhost.directory because every time I wanted to self-host something I ended up bouncing between awesome-selfhosted list, the project’s GitHub, any dozens of tabs

You can search in more than 2000 projects, see their features, integration, installation tutorial (with command, docker compose, etc.), sort by github stars, see what features each project offers or look at the alternatives

We also gathers realtime updates of all projects so you can see latest and past updates, see updates by category or across all projects in realtime

We’re still working on it, we have plans to introduce user accounts, notifications, mobile app, check it out and you’ll find out as soon as we have those

Enjoy and wish you happy choise

Your account has not existed long enough for self promotional posts. Please stick around and get to know the community, and post when requirements are met.

This is a great and very neatly organised list.

Thank you for this amazing resource. A lot of the time I don’t know a service exists (or it’s alternatives) until I’ve done a ton of research (or realistically just suffering without it), so this provides a great starting point to see what might exist to solve a gap.

I also was really careful to not include any AI slop, I’m pretty sure there are some, but i would say 95% of the projects are valuable

Ah yes, a 20min old account promoting a webstie that has (as far as I could see) zero information about who runs it. The post does not even actually link the site in markdown. Seems like a very legit and trustworthy project

Every post I see with “I just built XYZ” wreaks of someone that AI slopped a “project”. It’s always low quality generic shit with non substance. It’s also a copy of something that already exists.

How would this be better or more helpful than selfh.st? It is more reputable and more likely to stick around

This is not just basic directory, I’m trying to provide more info, details. But in general I agree but everything has to start somewhere

        What kind of info?

If you are scraping the project sites and having an LLM put together guides, they will likely go out of date over time and likely contain vital errors already. It would be much better if you simply direct users to where they can read the current up to date information.

Cool idea, but I don’t think it’s working properly right now. I’m getting these errors and the site keeps reloading. It looks like my ad-blocker might be blocking your analytics, which then causes the app to panic and crash, I hope the logs help you figure out what’s wrong.

Thanks for sharing, The UI design looks really cool! That said, there are quite a few established directories doing this already (Awesome-Selfhosted, selfh.st, etc.). I’m curious what is the main thing that differentiates yours from the existing ones?
