I only know the situation in europe, but have you checked TSOs and DSOs? Transmission and distribution system operators have a lot to do in europe to adapt to the renewables and alike. If you like software, you could also take a look at SCADA software companies, they need some application knowledge too, but not sure if a grad is what they might be looking for. At least security critical software is somewhat safe from AI. My last idea would be companies providing control power (called FCR and FRR in europe), they have somewhat a boom due to cheep batteries. However, I know that things are different in the US, so guess I cannot help very much. In my experience however, applying to jobs that seem a bit different from what you are looking for / are skilled for is often fine, because sometimes the company does not know exactly what they want.
