Personally I refrain from generalizing that line of thinking, not because I don’t wish the worst to those people (I really do - fuck 'em) but because dehumanization to me is a slippery slope, it has lead to the worst atrocities and I refuse to think the same way the ‘enemy’ does. But I really understand why you do it.

But they are human. They not something different, they are just like you and I are, they just don’t give a shit about other humans. I’m trying to say we are all the same species, they all had the potential to NOT be that monstrous and that makes what they’re doing even worse. Would they just be ‘inhuman sociopathic piece of shit’ that would mean they couldn’t help themselves, but they could, they are human, they could be nice and loving and caring and instead choose to not be and that’s worse.

If I understand what you’re saying right, then that’s exactly what I was saying. These people are not some different species, some terrifying unimaginable thing, they are humans.

Dehumanizing divorces these evils from the human soul. It pretends that only monsters would do such evil. The ss men in the concentration camps were not monsters, they were humans who loved their wives and children, that doesn’t diminish their crimes it just clarifies that those evils lie within humans. That makes those crimes even worse in my opinion, because it proves those people are capable of love and are capable to tell right from wrong and they willingly ignored their love and humanity to do such evil.

We all carry the same potential for evil, it’s better to acknowledge that than to pretend there are monsters with human clothing among us.

Not to distract from lovely buffy but those olive trees are just gorgeous. Trees like Olives and oaks fascinate me. I remember being in Portugal and asking a old farmer ‘what do you think how old that olive is?’ -‘Probably around 600-800years’… That tree was standing there, witnessing the reconquista. That’s mind-blowing to me.

In my highschool German class we read Kafkas “Metamorphosis”, it gave me weird dreams for weeks.

In a literary sense it’s a masterpiece, simple yet intricate. The first sentence alone is genius :

“Als Gregor Samsa eines Morgens aus unruhigen Träumen erwachte, fand er sich in seinem Bett zu einem ungeheuren Ungeziefer verwandelt”

“As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning from uneasy dreams he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect”.

No backstory, no explanation, the reader is left with the same confusion as the characters. Then the societal observations he weaves in are sharp yet puzzling.

I recommend it highly, but be prepared for strangeness and being left with an uneasy feeling.

Same, I am still so mad about the whole ksp2 fiasco that I block all of take twos games on steam, they ain’t getting any money from me. I am so glad I didn’t buy it in EA although it looked promising.
