From what I understand it’s like robbing someone of their agency. Now they are doing the thing at the behest of another’s intent instead of their own free will. It’s a perfectly cromulent feeling for one to have. How it gets handled is another thing.

It’s only temporary, unless it works.

My vehicle has a nonsensical reg plate. I got a rear frame that says: That’s Numberwang!
I always wonder if someone gets it.

Not necessarily. Some companies with auto payments set have agreements with card companies and they roll with the change.

The People’s Internet!
…with blackjack and hookers…?

Yes, I see a future of two “internets”. One corporate and another for the people. The People’s Internet will be deemed illegal and hunted down. Seems like there’s a movie there somewhere…

Simply put, you can wratchet down the security settings on FF manually, or use a fork that has done that for you. Waterfox is preset with pretty decent settings and Librewolf dials it to max protect. It’s a bit of work to relax it and that’d frustrate an average user. Waterfox is a fair compromise.

Hey there, Pele!
I was going to mention two other docs to you that my friend and I found quite good (though different topics). They are:
I hope you can find them somewhere. If you torrent or what not, they are doubtlessly found there.

Any PC I assist with has FF/UBO when I walk away. Now I have to strip out the AI shit too. So maybe I walk away with Waterfox on there now. Librewolf is too much for the average folk.

I am posting this again in such a short time, but The Century of Self is required viewing in my opinion. That asshole you mentioned, Bernays, is one of the prime perpetrators for the state of advertising.
— Anyway, I do highly recommend (for those that haven’t) investing the time and watching The Century of the Self by Adam Curtis. It is very illuminating as to how we’ve arrived where we are now with regards to propaganda and advertising which are rooted in the same psychological underpinnings.

It appears to be on Netflix, as well.

I remember working on sendmail back in the day. I had skills then, but mastering sendmail would elevate you to be the guru on the mountain. I struggled to the foothills and managed enough to maintain it, only scratching the surface. There was and is a lot there. The O’reilly sendmail book was the thickest of my collection and I might even still have it.

They do not all behave the same. I have many of them that are supplied as a charging cable in small electronic devices. These ubiquitous USB-C cables will not perform a data connection with your phone. At all. I have to search for that one cable that I know works for data since it moves around the house.

A longtime friend of mine and I often go into deeper discussions of a myriad different topics and on that occasion it was probably something about propaganda. My friend is also quite keen on discovering films and documentaries and sharing them with me, so he was aware of and suggested Adam Curtis and his works. This was perhaps ten or so years ago. Quite glad of that.
This doc is one of those big reveals. The curtain gets pulled back and you see the levers being pulled. Being aware of these elements is extremely important, but alas most are not.
This would be required viewing in my education system and I’ve been telling others about it for years. Please do spread the word.
What’s that in Baker’s dozens?
