  • I’ve met multiple people who married immigrants who overstayed their visa and had to deport for something like 5-10 years before being let into the US.

The citizen doesn’t need to leave obviously, but in the multiple cases I’ve personally known dating back to the 90s, the partner leaves the country to be with them until they can come back.

This is however not how it works if you marry someone here on a legitimate visa. Generally after marrying within the timeline of a visa before it expires you can stay with the citizen. My wife did this, and we just finished the process recently. You still need to get your paperwork in, but there’s some kind of grace period due to the marriage physically in the US along with the petition.

  • I skipped the switch 2 despite heavily using the switch 1 for many years, and i’m planning on skipping future iterations of playstations as well. PC has usurped consoles for me entirely.

Even couch gaming on linux is better than a console. I’m all set. The deck or it’s equivalents handles any handheld gaming I want to do and it’s trivial to stream locally if I don’t want to have a gaming computer near my tv.

Oh, and i’ve ditched microsoft controllers to. 3rd party quality is phenomenal nowadays and it’s not limited to any one brand. I have this flydigi and 8bitdo stuff that all feel amazing and are more reliable than microsoft’s own and are cheaper with more features. It’s so nice not being dependent on overpriced garbage!

  • I’m not gonna lie, Lutris is fucking terrible. Basic QOL things are missing. There’s so many disjointed ways of doing so many things. The same 2-5 things need to be set every time you add an app and it’s basically all manual because they have done nothing to make it better. There’s thousands and switches and options, and the only way to find information about what they do is to hit the web… and then you find out so many of them are probably useless.

There’s built in install scripts for things but trying to figure out any information about them within the program itself is also useless.

Then there’s the shit that just doesn’t work. Other tools like Heroic Games Launcher are the only way to install games from providers like epic. You can spend hours troubleshooting this in Lutris, and maybe even get an epic game to install and run once… but everything is going to be a broken mess on try 2.

Just a disappointing app all around once you really start working with it. It’s a shame it seems to be the default mode wine app manager.

  • Yeah… i’ve seen how that works. Workers are incredibly corrupt, like most people.

We need something that delivers transparency with intelligence and a huge amount of social empathy as it’s core. Can’t work in this world. Globalism is here but fragmented feifdoms of horror remain all over, even in the wealthiest and best educated areas. To prop up one nation on the grounds of social empathy at the cost of others invites the same kind of problem we’re in today, and there’s simply not enough to go around with 8 billion people.

I don’t have a solution to fix the world’s problems, if I did I would use it. Instead all I can do is push for some kind of regulatory action. Again, consequences for shareholders. There should be the biggest penalty for unethical, immoral and illegal actions taken against humanity by the people who have a stake in the business. Leadership comes from the top, and if they are unable to avoid horrors, perhaps they shouldn’t have the assets that allow them to lead.
