I find it’s best to accept entropy, that you’re going to die, that everything ends, that you will lose data, that there will be a last time you watch a movie or show, and keep running those ssd/hdds even when they’re in the yellow/red warning zone.

Reminds me of the artist Michael Landy who chucked everything he owned - pictures, clothes, artwork, his passport - into a shredder. Performance art, reaction against consumerism. My grandparents hoarded all their lives, and after they died much of what they owned ended up in a skip, because there wasn’t enough time or interest to sell it. The supposedly priceless porcelain? Agreed. I’m actually quite glad.

You can’t read reddit without logging in, but IME you can’t actually register an account without it getting instantly silent-banned either, unless you’re using a non-anonymous mail or connection.

The only problem is that I still have the muscle memory of quickly typing reddit when opening a browser, but given that’s now entirely pointless, that should fade sooner rather than later.

Shame about the smaller communities, like /r/panelshow which despite all its flaws was still useful for pirating those shows. Guess I’ll have to go find it elsewhere.

I think the right and right-wing media have made a mistake in being so open with their sexism and racism. I think they’ve gone too far and that there’s going to be a backlash.

Quick maths suggests roughly a third of the UK population is straight, white and male. So the right keep pissing off the overwhelming majority of voters. And it’s not as if straight white men are all racist homophobic misogynists. This isn’t the tv version of the '70s.

Unfortunately a lot of morons keep falling for divisive propaganda, like all the TERF stuff, but I think things will get better sooner, rather than later.

A lot of journalists are still on Twitter too, I assume they’re being brain washed by all the fascist propaganda or simply emboldend. The coverage of that academic who killed himself, shows that a lot of journalists are becoming quite blatant in their racism.

Trump has also emboldened the racists internationally, and Trump aligned actors (including Musk), are pushing far right propaganda globally but also in the UK.

And as you say, there’s the whole Russia thing.

Punishments for drivers are almost universally lenient, unfortunately.

Bit of a tangent, don’t know what happened here, but risk taking behaviour is often associated with suicidality.

I’m not alone in thinking that a lot of suicidal behaviour, conscious or unconscious, flies under the radar because it happens in traffic.

It’s weird how if someone’s suffering mental health issues, we wouldn’t leave them alone with a knife or enough medication to overdose on, but will leave them a set of car keys.

Really hope fully self-driving cars will come on the market soon.
