  • I don’t know that I have the ability to answer that question definitively. I’m not sure anyone does. What I do know is that they’re both far, far more impactful than just eating plants would be.

This question is kind of like asking “If I have to get shot, would it be better to get shot in the arm or the leg?” And the only answer I can really give is that it’s a better use of your time to figure out how to avoid getting shot at all, rather than trying to figure out which of two bad options is slightly less bad.

  • I’m sure lots of things are “supposed to be” a certain way, but in true American fashion, most of these kinds of laws aren’t enforced until the parties end up in court.

You know, the courts that are famously impartial and who never rule along ideological or party lines, are never swayed by whoever has the “better” lawyers, and are never biased against minoities. Oh, and litigation is super cheap too, and so frivolous lawsuits definitely can’t be used as financial weapons.

  • As someone who likes meat but doesn’t eat it for ethical reasons, I’m very grateful for beyond burgers. They’re close enough to meat to satisfy a craving in a way that black bean burgers just aren’t.

I’ve said it before and I’ll keep standing by it, the “fake meat” style products taste a lot more like meat if you haven’t eaten real meat in a while. I think that being vegan actually changes your taste buds a bit 🤷‍♀️

  • Well in the session i’m prepping this week, there’s a giant carnivorous bramble plant that’s pretty hard to spot until you’re already knee-deep in it. It’s completely inert until you scratch yourself on its thorns. Once it’s tasted your blood, though, it will grab you and drag you off to its heart, where it slowly drains you dry.

It makes traveling though the forest a very deadly proposition for anyone who doesn’t know how to spot them.

  • That sounds cool! I don’t think this setting is homebrew, it seems to come standard.

Unforunately in my setting, while people claim to be able to do magic, every practitioner of magic seems to disagree about how magic works and no one has ever done anything unambiguously magical that couldn’t be explained by luck. It’s kind of disapponting, really.

Also, all of the teachings of all of the gods are conveniently favorable to whoever rules the region where that god’s faith is practiced. There are thousands of gods, though most are no longer worshipped, yet somehow none of them seem unambiguously positive or beneficial to mortal flourishing. Their followers all claim to be good-aligned, but no one can agree on what “good” means.

Also, similar to the magic situation, no one really has any proof that their god is real. Followers of different gods claim to do miracles on their god’s behalf, but none of these miracles are so miraculous that they couldn’t be explained by coincidence or clever slight of hand.

The tech is really cool though! I’m pretty fond of that aspect of it. I just wish the character creation was a little more customizable. Most everything about my character was randomly generated for me, even their name, and custimizing my character at all takes a lot of in-game currency. In fact, even though i’ve given them a nickname that my party members all use, I haven’t been able to change my character’s name yet! My character sheet still has the original name, and it won’t get updated until I collect enough currency and complete a special name-change sidequest.

Still, as frustrating as this game can be, it sure beats not playing at all.
