Saw this comment first and thought it was a real quote, I would love to see El-Sayed actually say that directly to JD Vance

Not even really a theory but a historically verifiable strategy used by the automakers, but Jaywalking was invented by car companies to put the blame on cyclists and pedestrians for getting killed by cars so that they could monopolize use of the public roads for cars and here we are over 100yrs later and vehicle collisions are like the number 2 leading cause of death in the country behind gun violence.

Largely it’s because public transit basically doesn’t exist once you get outside cities that have a population of at least 750k - 1mil. So the price of gas going up increases the price of everything you do because the only feasible/safe option is to drive yourself everywhere.

Yeah Jury Duty is a lot like the Joe schmo show but tightened up and less mean. They even got a little cheeky with it and have James Marsden play himself on the jury and act like a huge douche the whole time

On the jury one the guy knew he was being filmed the whole time, they just mislead him to believe that the trial was real and the subject of the reality show and that the rest of the jury weren’t actors when in reality he was the only person in the show who was not aware that the whole show was staged to look real

He’s talking about the fact that for over a decade south Park played a significant part in fueling climate change skepticism with Al Gore screaming “manbearpig guys I’m super cereal” only for the creators to later admit that yeah they were actually super wrong about climate change and it is a serious issue. That’s why they made manbearpig real and had it start killing people, but that doesn’t erase the influence that they’ve already had on people. It’d be like if they had a TV show calling aids fake and gay for the first few years of the aids crisis and then only changed their tune once it started affecting people they know.

Claiming that anyone who rightfully criticizes their handling of climate change as being a purity testing twat with no understanding of comedy or satire is disingenuous and makes it obvious that you don’t actually understand what you’re talking about

From everything ive seen he’s not actually apologized TO the women he abused, he has only ever really made public apologies where he says “this is all true, i thought I was okay by asking for consent beforehand” when there is credible reporting that on multiple occasions he did not even bother to ask for consent.

Just going to add on, that in the YouTube series linked above that there is a direct comparison of how Loius and Dan Harmon both handled it and that you’ve summarized the differences quite well

Basically compares the allegations as detailed in the initial reporting with jokes, podcast, and radio appearances that Louis has done in the past as well as his actions and statements after the allegations were made public. And the obviously biased and very condensed version i can give you is that there are several stories he told on opie and anthony about events that bear enough resemblance to the allegations to determine that there are likely more victims who have never come forward and never been recognized and that Louis has been working to minimize how this negatively impacts him without ever going so far as to actually try to make amends with the women he abused.

If you are tempted to watch some I’d say start at the beginning and around the first time you catch yourself thinking “this fucking guy” after a clip of Louis telling a “funny” story on a podcast back before the allegations came out, then you’ve got the gist and the rest of it is just stacking more receipts

Can’t recommend this series enough, does it need to be over 5hrs, not really, but it does paint a very thorough picture of the whole timing of Louie’s misconduct and his response to being exposed

Just taking this opportunity to remind everyone that Louis C.K. has never made any tangible steps to make amends with the women he abused and yet he still goes on podcasts and talks about how the reporting on his sexual misconduct damaged his life and reputation as though he is the true victim
