For the first time in world history: boycotts against companies can be started & finished using a simple but powerful lifecycle: (1) Demand → (2) Commit → (3) Map → (4) Prove → (5) Pressure → (6) Respond → (7) Verify → (8) Vote. Post yours on Wecott today to see your campaign through to completion.💖

  • It is profoundly sick and I’ve been dealing with it since they first incorporated it into their engines. It has a long history but I recall SEO changes immediately preceding the implementation and requirement of AI in their tools, then increasingly stringent requirements for users thereafter regarding the data they would take from them. Knowing that many people are probably boycotting google is primarily why I built my own Single Sign-On (SSO) for my product, so users would never have to share their data with Alpha/Google. My SSO is called AUSUM ID, I’m using it for all of my many in-development products. However I’ve run out of my own funds to continue trying to compete against large companies. I’m struggling to survive now, and fear the future of trying to compete with big companies.

  • I agree that there is a fraction that fall in that camp. I think the human emotional spectrum is very wide, and it’s important to approach sensitive subjects with a more profound sense of humility than the person you’re trying to win over-- staying true to yourself throughout the process. I believe the boltzmann curve on this would have the same fraction that falls into that camp (who would change their views in response to tie cuts) see an equal but opposite reflection on the other side of the curve where they’d equally cut you off as unworthy of discussing anything with simply because you cut ties over politics. So it really goes both ways, in my view of human emotions and disagreement discussion.

  • Of course I do! But even a dollar to someone with absolutely nothing going on can be really impactful. I’d know, I’m at the worst stage of my life after investing my blood, heart, sweat, soul into a world-changing tool that I don’t know how to market. I don’t even know why I’m here. But I’m enjoying the experience.

  • I would like to participate on Lemmy as more than just marketing. I just want to say something very grounded and realistic: the holders of power in American society shall not allow the U.S., nor any other country friendly with it, to do this for quite a significant amount of time. Arguably, the seizing is already happening, with Chinese competitors like Alibaba stealing ample sums of data from Anthropic/OpenAI to train their Qwen model. All of these companies steal from one another and many are forming internal alliances. It is now involving militaries and deep states. There is no chance for normal citizens, even with a supermajority, to change or affect this, because of the Republicanism (representative) nature of American society. However, there is something that can be done: Wecott. Contact me or visit my profile for more details.
