This will seriously mess up open source operating systems and simple devices. I think major OS vendors can and should add parental controls to their devices, but it should not ve mandated by law.

Steam Input is not exclusive to this controller, correct. However the inputs that this controller has and exposes to Steam Input are. There is no other controller in existence that supports dual touchpads and capacitive gyro. I’m not sure why youre being so argumentative. It’s not for you, move on.

You already have a Steam Controller built into your Steam Deck. If you haven’t made custom steam input mappings to utilize the touchpads and capacitive sticks with gyro, then this is not going to appeal to you.

If you want to see what that’s all about there are videos on Steam Input for the Deck and all the cool things you can do with it. Once you have that the way you like it you wish all controllers could do it (or at least I do).

So this is a niche product for people who utilize all the control surfaces that the Deck and the original Steam Controller offer. If you don’t then it’s overpriced and not worth it.

I get where you’re coming from, but we as a society haven’t even TRIED to hold billionaires accountable. Do they make it difficult? Of course they do, but a huge percentage of the population still look up to the ultra rich and think they’re geniuses who deserve it.

If society ACTUALLY got fed up and demanded they be held accountable, and jail and seizing their assets wasn’t enough, then you consider more severe forms of punishment. You’re right that we never really know how things will play out. That said, I don’t think anyone expected foreign nukes to defend Ukraine, especially since allies are unwilling to use conventional weapons or send troops.

I don’t think that really tracks with what we’ve seen in Ukraine. The world tiptoed around and wasted a year of potential action because Putin threatened to use nukes. It’s still one of the main things stopping escalated allied involvement. I also doubt Russia would have invaded had Ukraine not given up its nukes.

With the way this timeline is going, I don’t think anyone getting rid of nukes is a good idea. If you do decide to for some reason, give them to Canada.

As usual the UCP is all talk and fluff. They’ve been talking about improving this for a long time because it keeps happening and making the news, but they know all they need to do is say they’re working on it and people will forget.

I don’t understand why you think this argument, which I’ve heard described as the Euphemism Treadmill, doesn’t apply to this word. Retard is used to describe the slowing of something, like fire, without any insult to people. It’s just a word. As you point out, that word can be, and is, used as an insult which causes harm. However, any word can do that. Take “slow”, which I used above as an example. If it became the new slang insult for people of below average intelligence would you ask that people stop using it? It sounds silly to think of today, but that’s just because we aren’t used to hearing it that way. There’s nothing stopping a new word from taking the place of an old one, and retarded is not special. I guarantee you if people used it to laugh at others or said it sharply it would become just as hurtful.

We used to call people without jobs or shelter bums, then homeless, then housless, now temporarily unhoused. Once everyone is saying temporarily unhoused what will the next word be?

We’re absolutely in agreement that slower people are people too and deserve to be treated with respect. However, the fact that intelligence is a sought after trait that you are ridiculed for not having is the root of the problem, not the word used, and I don’t think this word has some special ability to get around the euphemism treadmill.
