I’m very shocked to learn this is not the standard from this thread.

0·3 days agoIt’s not your job to solve everything for everyone. Find one or two things you really believe in and put your best into that (and your best will vary).
Remember that you can’t and shouldn’t try to do it all yourself. Find other people who share your values. This is all a group project.

0·3 days agoJoin the other people who are working to dismantle the billionaires and shitty capitalist system? There’s lots of us and lots of different ways to get involved. One average person can’t really do it alone, which is probably why they feel so tired if that’s been their approach so far. (I mean, aside from all the ways the system works to exhaust us)
Sounds like the mad scientist character trope where the main character finds you in a locked decked out apartment in the middle of the most dangerous destroyed city and you help them escape. (Respectfully)

Books@lemmy.world•What book(s) are you currently reading or listening to? April 28
0·5 days agoI’m sludging my way through a book I picked up on a whim called The Astral Library by Kate Quinn. I like the plot enough, but the writing is pretty subpar, the narrator (character) is annoying and the narrator (audiobook) makes questionable voicing choices. The whole book so far is just a little on the nose and it feels like the writer doesn’t trust the reader to understand anything.
I will probably finish it but do not really recommend at this point.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was the most recent thing that made you cry as an adult?

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What was the most recent thing that made you cry as an adult?
0·5 days agoOkay so I cry about everything, but this year the thing that has made me cry the most (and most recently) is heated rivalry. Even on my umpteenth reheat. No shame, I just love that show and I’m often overwhelmed by the amount of love within the show, that went into making that show, and that people feel towards it. Genuine joy is such a hard thing to come by these days.
Wtf I hate this timeline
Whats wrong with the febreeze one? They did used to use those bottles, right? I’m pretty sure I have one around somewhere.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Question for Canadians - do you say "zi" or "zed"?
0·7 days agoZed is the proper Canadian way to say it. Those people just probably watch a lot of American content so it stuck for them.

No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is society at large okay with euthanasia for pets but not for humans?
0·9 days agoIn Canada, nobody can decide it for you, even if you have a Representation Agreement, which is the medical do decisions.
You need to go through at least two independent psychological assessments and you need to be legally totally sound of mind. So if you take too long to make the decision and you have something like dementia, you’re not allowed to have a medically assisted death.
This is why I find it so crazy when people freak out about it here. Like we have so many hoops through jump through, it’s not something that you can just walk into an office and a doctor will just shoot you up.
I dont think there’s that many Canadians actually in there, we just have a lot of people that support the pedophile billionaires in the States so same difference really

Aside from ladybutterfly and sunshine, I only really recognize people that I’ve tagged. And I tend to tag people for pretty arbitrary reasons.
