Maybe if you’re making the exact same type of cake. To me, boxed cakes always taste way too sweet, and I think it’s strange that tyere are no fruit chunks in them instead of powdered fruit.

I think government pension is probably one the least capitalist ideas out there. There’s no such thing as a pure capitalist society, just like how there’s never been a true socialist society. Only ones that subscribe more to their respective ideas more than their peers. To me, what makes a society capitalist is a foundations belief in a free markets and the voluntary trade of goods and services, and a socialist society is one where the means of production are pushed towards collective ownership.

I think our ecological failures are often misattributed to economic philosophy. Collectivist societies have also caused irreparable ecological harm in the past, so the issue can’t be capitalism exclusive.

Capitalism, like socialism, means many things to many different people. At it’s core capitalism is simply a philosophy built around the idea of the free exchange of goods and services between individuals. I don’t think most people would that infinite growth is an essential part of that equation as there are real examples of capitalistic economys that shrink every year.

I think it’s like making a cake using box mix. Of course home made is infinitly better but at least you still have a cake at the end of it.

Maybe this soulless AI cat guy will have some human spirit put into them when the creator puts them into a really personal digital puppet show that allows them to express themselves through writing and storytelling as opposed to 3D modeling.

I think that’s a bit reductive. Firstly, I wouldn’t describe China as non-capatalist. Secondly, China has a nuanced relationship with environmentalism and green energy as one would expect from a nation that large.

Because I believe ecological sustainability is achivable under any economic system!

The soviet union wasn’t exactly great environmental stewards either. Perhaps the problem is a technological gap between industrilization and sustainability.

When EggInDisguise suggests that it may be personal choice and you chime in to say that representation matters as a response, it sort of comes across like you don’t think the actor’s preferences matter over the end goal of changing the media landscape.

Again, nobody has an obligation to change their body for the sake of normalizing a certain beauty standard. If the actor doesn’t want to grow out it’s their right not to do so. You can’t criticise individuals for industry trends.

Applaud diversity when you see it, but don’t critisise people just for being themselves.

The media is made up of individuals with their own choices or autonomy. It’s fair to say “I wish this got more representation in media” but it’s entity unfair to criticise specific individuals for not upholding a specific standard. The original premise was “what if being clean shaven was her choice?” in which case it would be nobody’s place to hold that against her.

Fiona Dourif did a fantastic job portraying Bart in this show. If being clean shaven is how they wanted to appear on screen, I think their right to do so supersedes any obligation they have to ‘normalize’ anything for anyone else. It certainly did not harm the performance.
