EDIT: Thanks to help received I’ll have a washing machine on Tuesday, so the problem is soon to be resolved. Thanks for the suggestions though.
I’m not having much luck with my mutual aid request for a new washing machine. I’m finding it impossible to wash my clothes by hand. I have very little use of my left arm, as well as issues with my hands. I’m finding i just can’t wring the clothes out by hand, which means i can’t get the laundry disinfectant I have to use, out properly. They’re being left itchy and smelly. Does anyone have any good tips on dealing with this?
a good washingboard makes it a lot easier. however washing clothes by hand is quite strenuous and air drying can make a mess in the home. isnt ur landlady responsible for these fixes? sorry for taking a long time to respond, i have my own issues to deal with but i wish i could help you
That’s why I love this place. We all have our own mountains of excrement to move, often with tools that amount to teaspoons; but we give of ourselves when we can. When I’m discouraged and about to say “to the devil with it,” or worse, “there’s nothing I can do,” or equally bad, doing too much, reading here reminds me to stop, check in with, regulate myself, have a rest and a deeper think, before deciding to proceed.
By the way, I sent some replies yesterday that may not have gone through. It was cloudy and my device was acting up, so I wasn’t ignoring, if I seemed to/miss anything. It was a growth experience all day. 😂
i wish i could take my comrades pain away
I know. We do what we can, and that means recognizing we have to take time to pour into ourselves. We can’t fill another’s cup when our own is empty, mentally, physically, emotionally, or some combination. Take care of your business, comrade. You matter, too.
White vinegar in wash water can whiten, brighten and disinfect, white vinegar in rinse softens and removes suds. My washing machine broke a two or three years back so after several months, I got a portable that was less than half the cost of a new full size (the broken one was used off Craigslist or something for $50 plus whatever it cost to pay someone with a pickup to move it, maybe another 50). I only use about 1/2 C, so about 118 mL per for about a 15 gallon load, so I would imagine 40 mL is more than enough for a few liters solution, especially if there are elastics.
What specifically is wrong with your washer? I was able to fix the one in my apartment for about $20. The problem was a broken drive belt, and I found a cheap replacement from china that’s been working well for months. It was an easy fix.
It’s really old and has had lots of problems, stopped filling and spinning. A man came out to look at it and said it’s beyond fixing. Anyway with my mobility issues I wouldn;t be able to fix it myself even if I knew what was wrong.
Well, scratch that idea then. Sorry.
It’s small but maybe in a pinch: https://youtu.be/ZkfQX1BztW8
