I like posting to stoner_rock@sh.itjust.works.
It has subscribers, I’m not the only one there, but it’s been a bit stagnant. I think it could use a cleanup, maybe people might be more interested in it if there was more going on.
I’d like to adopt the com and do a few things with it.
The mod is niladmirari@sh.itjust.works. They last logged into lemmy 2024 and only ever posted a few things.
I messaged them, and was unsurprised to get no reply.
Do I need to have a sh.itjust.works account? I could sign up for one if that’s the case. I have 2 lemmy accounts already, and didn’t really want a 3rd, but if those are the rules, that’s fine.
I expect this to be an uncontroversial request. I clearly use the comm, and its clearly abandoned.
Give me some feedback here, and I’ll take whatever next steps are needed.
You sound legit and already put in the legwork, glad you got it!
Cool, thanks.
@dbtng@eviltoast.org I appointed you as mod on the community. Like others have mentioned its recommended that you have an account on the instance but it’s not a requirement.
Thank you for volunteering your time to the fediverse!
I’d sub. There’s a lot of communities that were started a few years ago but didn’t have the population to really function. Lately I’ve been seeing a bit uptick in participation and posting, I bet a lot of people will be looking to pick up abandoned communities like these.
I miss the Metal subreddits most of all, so any extra music subreddits would be appreciated.
Did an LLM write this?
Moderation from a different instance can be a pain in the ass. It isn’t necessary to be on the same one as the community, but it is easier
Ok, I’ll setup an account on this instance.
What boundaries would you consider for it? Like would psych (night beats, osees, kglw) be considered for it, or just heavy rock (e.g. electric wizard, sleep, etc).
My thing is heavy rock. You can see what I’ve posted. But I like the original mod’s open attitude. Gonna keep the open boundaries. Honestly, it doesn’t get enough use to be telling anyone that their idea of ‘stoner rock’ is wrong.
My main expansion ideas so far are to write about bands touring and possibly a few interviews. I really want to talk to Gabriele Fiori of the Heavy Psych Sounds record label. There’s a few other heroes I might bother as well.
