Not exporting oil to other countries.
We should be focusing on ckeaner alternatives within Canada, but not ignore the financial incentives of moving the oil to those that want it.
What do those other countries do with that oil? Do we share an atmosphere and a climate with those other countries?
We own the world’s fourth largest proven oil reserves. We have a responsibility to humanity to do our part in keeping all that carbon in the fucking ground and out of the fucking atmosphere.
Oil use goes way beyond cars and energy production. The number of products produced using oil one way or anywhere is enormous and that’s not going to change any time soon.
That’s a fair point. Let’s develop our domestic petrochemical industry and scrap entirely fossil fuel production.
Doubling down on fossil fuel extraction and burning is a race to the bottom for, at best, short term gain. Provincial budget or not, the severity and frequency of these fires are a consequence of continued fossil fuel use. There are fires all over Canada: Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, NW Territories. So idk, why do you think federal decisions that make more out of control fires be exempt from scrutiny?
