One of the most historically-accurate period movies I’ve ever seen is Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

“'ow do you know he’s a king?”

“He hasn’t got shit all over 'im!”

You could shoot a film set in early sub-saharan Africa, and fuckers like this would still complain that it’s not “historically accurate” if there’s even a single black person in the cast.

There’s a coherent, objective, and interesting interpretation of “historically accurate” that I would like to see, that being what the Greeks at the time that the poem was written imagined the poem to be describing.

(But maybe there would be too much moral dissonance for that to be a fun movie.)

I wonder if it will also do the bible with historically accurate Jesus. Probably not, that would shock the people that still buy his shit too much.

it literally dumbs you down. when you k-hole it’s a weird feeling of being “detained” on the floor. i guess he has a dom kink if he likes it that much.

erowid.org was a lifesaver for me back in my experimenting days.

Ketamine is a dissociative, so if you take enough to “k-hole,” you aren’t “feeling like you’re detained” anywhere because you aren’t feeling anything about your surroundings. It’s 100% internal (and a wild fucking ride hahah). I prefer it to psychedelics because for me it lacked the anxiety and confusing “weirdness” that almost always comes along with those.

It is also very safe in terms of acute doses. Which is why we literally use it to sedate infants. It’s only bad on your body (bladder) when you use it habitually.

Truly a curse worthy of any story

On the othet hand he is literally the richest person ever to have lived.

On the other hand he is so insecure and sad that not even the global billionaire pedophile ring wants him with.

It’s amazing how it is never enough for him. He gets declared richest man in the world. But no, that’s not good enough, I’m his mind by all rights he really should be worth more than everyone else in the world put together. Technically he was saying this about SpaceX when he was whining after no longer being a trillionaire, but you know it was triggered by his personal “downgrade” back to “mere billionaire” rather than some grand view of SpaceX unrelated to his personal ego.

He’s been broken since that diver rescued those kids rather than wait for Elon to build a cave diving submarine, and Musk’s grown-up rational response was to call him a paedophile.

According to some that knew him, he’s been broken long before that. Notably his first wife basically described exactly the man we are seeing long before that incident, but no one really took that in at the time. Even before they split up, saw a video about him taking delivery of one of his first rich person cars and on the video she already clearly thought this was some stupid bullshit.

Before folks were able to curate his public image and moderate his “creative input”. He was seen as a crucial brand to maintain and powerful folks were eager to maintain the “real life Tony Stark” concept. Those are the guardrails that have worn out.

Yeah, he’s always been this person. Pretty much everyone who’s ever worked with him has always described him as a contrarian twat. I think his public image started to shift soon after firing his longtime secretary/mommy Mary Beth Brown, who used to control all his public engagement.

He’s also always been self aggrandizing. He occasionally brags about how he was one of the best Quake players in the world. Turns out he just had access to a corporate T1 line which gave him a major advantage in online tournaments. When someone else with similar access soundly trounced him, he accused that person of cheating for doing exactly what he himself was doing.

Dark olive skin is what my cursory googling led me to believe. Not that I super give a fuck about the color of someone’s skin let alone in the past LET ALONE in a fictional fantasy piece. But like I didn’t get the impression that they were porcelain white either.

To be fair, I think he’s talking about being accurate to the historical period in which the story is set. That period was very real, even if the events of the story - namely the supernatural ones - were not.

That being said, I have a really hard time understanding why some people care so much. It’s just a movie, and it really doesn’t seem worth getting upset about. Just don’t watch it if it bothers you that much.

If Nolan were trying to be accurate to the historical period, there wouldn’t be a black woman in the cast, or any actors who aren’t from that part of the Mediterranean, basically, which includes English actors, East Asian actors, etc. Obviously, Nolan isn’t going for historical accuracy, which, in my opinion, is a perfectly valid decision. Nearly all period films made in Hollywood today don’t only use actors who are from the relevant geographic area. That’s why, as I already said, I don’t understand why people are getting so upset about it.
