If Nolan were trying to be accurate to the historical period, there wouldn’t be a black woman in the cast, or any actors who aren’t from that part of the Mediterranean, basically, which includes English actors, East Asian actors, etc. Obviously, Nolan isn’t going for historical accuracy, which, in my opinion, is a perfectly valid decision. Nearly all period films made in Hollywood today don’t only use actors who are from the relevant geographic area. That’s why, as I already said, I don’t understand why people are getting so upset about it.
