Only because “he” can be gender neutral in English. Singular “they” is old but has never really been popular. The original languages don’t have gendered pronouns.
Greek and Hebrew definitely do have gendered pronouns. Though Hebrew generally prefers suffixes, they’re certainly gendered.
Interestingly Greek also has a neuter gender in both pronouns and nouns.
A better argument might be that God’s gender is self-defined, rather than on a biological basis.
Why would God be limited by gender? This is such a weird belief to have. Doesn’t need a physical form, isn’t limited by space or time, but is always male…somehow.
Also, a lot of these same people believe that your genitalia determines what your gender is. Which means that they believe that God has a cock and balls. How can you have a cock and balls when you don’t have a body?
