Normalize calling women “madame”!
I’d expect they would react negatively like being called “Ma’am” (old). Adding the “d” might make you sound impudent.
It depends on how you say it. I haven’t gotten any bad reactions yet. One lady was surprised and delighted to be addressed with dignity for a change.
It depends more on who you say it to not how you say it.
