United States Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent insisted his country is “not at war” with Canada, then proceeded to mock the threat Canada could pose to his country with “submarines from the Edmonton mall.”
The secretary also suggested Prime Minister Mark Carney was to blame for the current “political shouting match” between the two countries because keeping the fight alive is good for his poll numbers.
Bessent made the remarks Monday in an interview with the U.S. cable news network CNBC, where he was asked if his country is now in a trade war with Canada.
“Well, I don’t think you can be in a tit for tat with someone that’s 13 times larger than you are,” he said.
“I mean we’re not at war with Canada. How are we going to be at war with Canada? What, are they going to take their two submarines from the Edmonton mall and sic them on us?”
Wild to say you’re not afraid of an invasion from the only country that’s ever successfully invaded the US. What can Canada do? Burn down the White House again.
Honestly you’d be doing us a favor kickstarting the complete rebuild that the white house will need when the orange turd leaves
More gaslighting
Bessent causes more American suffering than any Canadian ever could.
Dressed this up as “Carney just hates America/Trump for no reason”. This started with absolutely a war on Canada with BS fentanyl excuse for tariffs and 51st state threats. Objective to destroy Canadian auto sector.
Canada has recognized its a war, but is not doing anything.
Ultimatum to abandon all auto tarriffs, or if Canadian auto sector is diminished, there will be 0 US market access to one of world’s largest auto markets. Pressuring companies directly, and seizing factories when then don’t immediately repay past subsidides. Closing Canadian market to US aviation, tractors, construction equipment. Far better value available elsewhere, including China. And no buying better value products is not dependency on evil. Forcing Canadians to buy expensive crap is dependency on evil.
It’s only this utlimatum posture that results in US begging to restoring historical relationship by Monday.
Cancelling all US military equipment procurement is a cherry to get US begging for a deal, and to restore our positions in queues.
The other crazy boast from Bessent yesterday was “US bonds have outperformed G7 bonds” which is admitting that US/Trump has destroyed global economy. Pathetic loser vassals just smiled.
Can I borrow G.O.R.T.’s machine please. Just for a little bit.
They’re just pissed because they’re losing JTF2.
Seriously Canadas special forces are literally the most elite in the world.
When they need it done with zero mistakes, they send JTF2.
It helps when you keep your soldiers fed.
Ya the situation on that carrier in Hormuz is beyond stupid.
But like, for context, JTF2 has broken multiple world record long distance sniper kills. One of many accolades.
Insulting your closest geographical and cultural ally is a very strong move for very strong and serious men to do. it’s so strong. This is how you know they have strong policy. they kid around and made dumb jokes about a country we have fought modern wars side by side with.
If only it were insults. Threats and economic coercion.
We throw insults at each other all the time and it’s fun. But then they suddenly escalated shit to threats of invasion and an economic war.
And petty shit like remaining lakes
Every word out of that man’s mouth is a lie.
For decades the canadians have lorded over us, their geese show no respect for our customs and immigration laws, flouting them with impunity. I hear they are illegal voting for the democrat party.
Then all of this smoke sent down here?
Fuck that! Build the wall! Build the wall! Build the wall!
Please do. The geese and smoke will flow over it, while leaving us with some modest protection against the ingress of US troops.
Better keep the armoured moose cavalry brigades on standby near the front inn case though.
I was thinking we should just arm bears. Nothing like a grizzly with a rifle in its paws to make someone think twice about approaching.
It’s AI but still done well about the Canadian Resistance Army. Bears, Moose, Wolverines and Beavers ready to fight:
Visions of Yogi and BooBoo doing drive by shootings and moving loads of “picnic baskets” for the ranger.
I like the way you think. We should collaberate on an animated tv show to pitch. I know that is unlikely, but we really should.
Loose lips sink ships! Dude you are NEVER supposed to mention our armoured Moose cavalry divisions openly. If you say anything at all about our all beaver demolition squads I’m calling CSIS.

One is a cockroach, the other is make believe.
“I don’t think you can be in a tit for tat with someone that’s 13 times larger than you are”
Agreed. Which is why we need asymmetric measures that make the USA hurt a lot more than us. Specifically, make their billionaires squeal like piggies. Tax US cloud services, streaming services, and app services. Cap the profits that their app stores can charge. Clamp down on what advertising is acceptable. Force them to open APIs.
Right to repair legislation. Force them to open app store competition.
Level the playing field for Canadian software companies and developers.
We can’t compete with them dollar for dollar. So compete with them penny for dollar.
While they’re at it, rename the Bald Eagle the Canada Eagle. We have more of them anyway.
I don’t want us to be at war with the US, but I don’t want us to be subjugated by them either. it’s bad enough the Americans are subjugated by themselves
their militant psychopath leaders and their sycophants can choke on a bag of dicks though if they wouldn’t enjoy it so much
“Well, I don’t think you can be in a tit for tat with someone that’s 13 times larger than you are,” he said.
Russia would like a word…
Also, Fuck you, asshoke.
asshoke
Is there a new organ I missed?
The secretary also suggested Prime Minister Mark Carney was to blame for the current “political shouting match”
Trump has started a shouting match with a dozen different countries. At some point it becomes obvious the US is the problem in international relations
The United States has been issued its national report card. We got a “needs improvement” on the “plays well with others” grading category.
It was obvious before his first term.
If America invaded Canada, then 7% of its forces stationed in NATO countries would become prisoners of war.
